I voted earlier this year to pass the Inflation Reduction Act, which contained critical provisions to lower the cost of prescription drugs. Because of this landmark legislation, the price of insulin will be capped at just $35 per month, and the government will be able to negotiate for lower prices on other drugs and crack down on drug companies that have price-gouged Americans for far too long.
We successfully took on Big Pharma and delivered real change. So it shouldn't come as any surprise that special interests are now gearing up to undo this progress.
Politico recently reported that Big Pharma has hired one of the top lobbying firms in the country to "examine the organization’s failure to stop Democrats’ drug-pricing measures." And we all know that after the autopsy report, millions will be spent to attack the members of Congress who had the courage to support these measures.
As a Democrat representing a swing district, I'm likely to be a major target of Big Pharma in 2024, and I'm taking nothing for granted. That's why I've been reaching out to supporters for the first time since the November election and asking for their help to meet my end-of-year fundraising goal.
