John - to all of my colleagues celebrating the passage of a $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill, this was a FAILURE.
To declare this a victory is like a football team that just lost the game 60 to 0, and kicking a field goal in the waning seconds and saying the field goal is a big win.
We have let down the American people by passing this massive bill. We are literally mortgaging our children’s and grandchildren’s futures, the exact thing I have pledged to fight against since I was first elected in 2010.
I have always said I will never conduct myself with re-election in mind. Everyone knows I did not want to run for a third term. I endured a bruising campaign because I believed I was the best candidate for Wisconsin. I simply refuse to let all of that hard work and sacrifice go to waste by supporting out-of-control spending. I won’t do it.
I am always going to fight for the American people and what is best for them, not what is politically expedient. I have no problem calling out dysfunction in Washington.
Mitch McConnell was wrong for celebrating the passage of this bill, I am not afraid to call him out for it.
I promise I will stand in the way of anyone, Republican, Democrat, or Independent, who wants to spend tax-payer money recklessly. However, I cannot do it alone. I need your support, John, to help hit my financial goals for 2022.
