Success! As Minnesota’s only appropriator, I worked all year with the Biden Administration and groups across Minnesota and the country to write an appropriations bill to fund the federal government and meet the needs of the American people.

It’s not glamorous, headline grabbing work, but it is the essential work of governing – fully funding vital federal services and the millions of public, non-profit, and private sector jobs that keep our families safe, strong, and successful. 

Last week, only hours before a government shutdown, it was House Democrats who stood together to pass and send President Biden the $1.7 trillion Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023! 

This appropriations bill touches the life of every American. Funding for healthcare, transportation infrastructure, national defense, environmental protection, higher education, affordable housing … the list goes on and on.

I want to thank my Minnesota colleagues – Rep. Angie Craig, Rep. Dean Phillips, and Rep. Ilhan Omar, along with Sen. Klobuchar and Sen. Smith – for voting to pass this legislation and once again proving that Democrats are delivering for the American people.

You also need to know that 205 House Republicans voted to shut down the federal government – 2 days before Christmas! The same people taking control of Congress on January 3rd voted for a government shutdown.

Republicans voting for a government shutdown is a warning – chaos is coming!

In 2023, I am returning to Congress to fight for you, to support President Biden, and to prevent Republicans from inflicting CHAOS on the American people.

Get ready, friends, because I am going to need your help in 2023. 

My goals for the coming two years are crystal clear: meet the needs of Minnesota families, prevent House Republicans from inflicting harm; position Democrats to win a new House majority; and, re-elect President Biden and Vice-President Harris in 2024!
