EITC Receipt
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is associated with improved health outcomes and has been shown to improve maternal and child health and reduce public spending on
health.
The authors discover that Hispanic income-eligible
families with children had lower odds of EITC receipt than their peers.
Thomson and coauthors also report "lower odds of EITC receipt among income-eligible families with a self-employed parent, families with a parent who had lower English language proficiency, and families living with relatives."
In comparison, "income-eligible families that received Medicaid, food assistance, and other government benefits were more likely to receive the EITC than families who did not receive these benefits."
