The new year is almost here — and that means we’re days away from the start of the 118th Congress and MAGA Republican control.

I’m not going to beat around the bush, folks. We’re heading into difficult territory. 

The Republicans have the slimmest of majorities, but their party is in total disarray. Kevin McCarthy is frantically making a corrupt bargain with extremists like Majorie Taylor Greene in a desperate attempt to secure the speaker’s gavel.

While my Democratic colleagues and I are ready to work for the American people from day one, congressional Republicans are spinning out of control. 

As he carries out his corrupt bargain, McCarthy refuses to identify the committee chairs until he secures Speaker votes. It will be days — if not weeks — before Congress is functioning.

However, none of the Republican infighting means we can rest up, even for a minute. Democrats need to be prepared to fight twice as hard to protect our rights and democracy itself.  

McCarthy, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Jim Jordan, Lauren Boebert, and others on the Republican side are making it clear they intend to exact revenge on me for exposing their extremism over the past two years.

They’re making no secret of their plans to strip away my committee assignments — and those of other Democratic colleagues — once they’re in control.

But here’s the deal, team. With your help, we won’t let them stop us. We refuse to be bullied by a bunch of MAGA extremists who will say anything and do anything to propel themselves into power.
