Last month a federal appeals court ruled the Affordable Care Act's insurance mandate unconstitutional, prolonging the uncertainty millions of Americans feel about the future of their coverage.

This ruling threatens to take health insurance away from millions of Americans nationwide, by discriminating against those with pre-existing conditions, hindering Medicaid expansions, and harming millions of low-income families. This ruling is what Republican Attorneys General have been pushing for in the courts for years.

It's both illegal and heartless.

That's why we will keep up the fight and why I joined a coalition of 21 Democratic AGs in filing a petition for certiorari with the US Supreme Court. That means we're appealing!

Times like these remind me of the weight of my role as the people's lawyer. We all know it's now up to us to protect health care for millions of Americans. I pledge to continue these efforts as long as necessary to ensure no Oregon family goes without the care they need.

Unfortunately, this attack on health care by Republicans will extend beyond 2020. We need to make sure we elect leaders who will stand up for our care every step of the way – pitch in $3 today so that we can keep protecting it – wherever it's challenged.
