Year in Review
Dear Friends of CTV,
In 2022, we experienced significant challenges, opportunities and victories in our work to preserve religious liberty, the family, life and limited government. Thanks to your support, our efforts through CTV were greatly enhanced this year, but unfortunately a perfect storm of events outside of our control caused disappointing losses for pro-life/pro-family candidates and Proposal 3.
However, the vote margins in some key State House and Senate races were extremely narrow, so looking ahead CTV will have an even more important role as a voice for your values in the legislature and culture over the next two years.
Here's a brief summary of what you helped us accomplish in 2022.
Education
Our educational programs and events continue to teach everyday citizens how they can participate in the public arena effectively. In April, we held a successful Political Leadership Academy packed with speakers who offered their expertise to future candidates, activists, and precinct delegates. We held several Pastor Briefings, inviting Michigan Supreme Court Justice Brian Zahra and others to speak to Michigan pastors whose role in preserving religious liberty is critical. We encouraged and exhorted their congregations on how they can be impactful, responsible Christian citizens.
Our bi-weekly digital newsletter continues to report on current public policy issues while our social media informs regarding news and events. We commit to grow these communication channels in 2023 as the need will be great.
Advocacy
CTV worked with the Let MI Kids Learn and Secure MI Vote ballot initiatives, as well as the Citizens to Support MI Women and Children coalition against Proposal 3. In 2023, we will continue to be a voice of reason and accountability at the capitol with our new legislature and in local communities.
Political Action
Through our Political Action Committee, we were able to send questionnaires and endorse candidates who stood for your values in the primary and general elections. We published these endorsements on the web, social media and in our voter guides across the state. Although there were losses, 64 of our endorsed candidates won their races and we are looking forward to partnering with them over the next two years.
We hired field coordinators in 7 key areas of Michigan to implement our Pews to the Polls program. They successfully built relationships with church liaisons and pastors in nearly 600 churches. They distributed close to 90,000 voter guides throughout Michigan, which were also accessible digitally and promoted statewide.
Looking Ahead
While Michigan suffered in this election, the majorities in the House and Senate were determined by just over 1,000 votes-and the House will be up again in 2024. CTV had a measurable impact in some of the most crucial areas, and we remain hopeful and energized to start gearing up now for the legislative and political battles to come in the fight for the children and families of Michigan!
Now is the time to maximize the growth in our network and communications with the incredible people of faith, churches and organizations across our state. We are eager to use our resources and connections to build upon and expand our reach.
We plan to host training events for new school board members and precinct delegates to expand our impact on local levels of government, continue our Pastor Briefings engaging our churches, and monitor and advocate for your values holding this new legislature accountable through communication and advocacy.
Thank you so much for your continued, faithful support as we fight to uphold traditional values in Michigan. Donors and volunteers like you make it possible for us to educate, advocate and act as true stewards of liberty.
Will you prayerfully consider a year-end gift to partner in our crucial work as we go forward in 2023?
