2022 was a big year at Groundwork. We’re proud of our partners and encouraged by the progress in our states of focus. But our democracy remains under threat across the nation and especially in our partner states, which so often serve as wellsprings for battles that elevate to have national impact. We chose this mission because we see Groundwork's partner states as the real battlegrounds.
➡ A case out of Jackson, Mississippi became the path for SCOTUS to reverse Roe v. Wade
➡ A WV case made way for Trump-appointed judges to gut the EPA’s actions on climate change
➡ An Alabama case during the Obama administration gave way for SCOTUS to determine the Voting Rights Act as unconstitutional
Those are just three of the countless ways that decades of investment from conservatives have made way for draconian policies with far-reaching consequences for us all.
Saturday at midnight is our end-of-year fundraising deadline. Meaning Saturday is our final opportunity to cover every line item in our early 2023 budget. What we have in reserve will determine how much we can accomplish during a critical time in our partner states. We’ve assessed our needs carefully and determined we need to raise another $25,000 before we close out 2022 — can I count on you to make sure we hit this goal?

Groundwork is providing multi-year resources to empower hyper-local organizations who are on the front lines, saving our democracy battle by battle – every single day. By building sustainable political infrastructure in states like Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and West Virginia, local organizations and organizers will be empowered to fight back against anti-democratic policies and politics.
Groundwork is the only national organization focused on funding organizing in red states and we’re committed to strategic, multi-year, sustained investments in those places. Donate before the end of the year and continue to work alongside us as we grow our mission.
Best,
Joe
