Dear Friend of EMET,

His name is Mohammad Ghobadloo. He has been sentenced, in a rapid-fire decision in an Islamic kangaroo court to the crime of “sins against God” and “enmity on earth”. He has been sentenced to be hung by the Iranian regime. He is only 22 years old, and his mother and family are heartbroken.
His name is Dr. Hamid Ghareh-Hassanlou. He is a 53-year-old radiologist whose profession is to find and cure cancers. For the same “crime”, he is also scheduled to be hung by the neck. Two others, Mohsen Shekari, 23, and Majidreza Rahnavard, also 23, have already been publicly hung.

Their real crimes? Participating in the ongoing protests to try to overthrow their dastardly, suffocating Iranian theocracy. There are 36 others--that we know of--that await the death penalty.

Almost every single day we, at EMET have been on Capitol Hill discussing the egregious human rights violations of the Islamic Republic of Iran. At this point, the Islamic Republic has incarcerated 18,000 courageous dissidents, who despite the ruthless, barbaric acts of the regime, have the courage to remain on the streets and keep protesting. Thousands and thousands have been out on the streets in every single of the 33 Iranian provinces since September 13, 2022, when Mahsa Amini was wrongfully arrested, tortured, and eventually died for having the “sin” of allowing some of her hair to show out from beneath her hijab. Approximately 500 people, that we know of, have been shot or thrown from buildings while protesting, including 58 children below the age of 16.

And as their streets are roiling over with dissent, the Iranian nuclear program is galloping towards a nuclear breakout. We know that Iran has been rapidly enriching uranium in its underground centrifuge facilities in Fordow and Natanz, and have 60 kilograms at the 62 percent enrichment level, an easy glide to the 90 percent level necessary for a nuclear weapon.

If the Iranians will surpass the nuclear threshold, could you imagine how much better off Israel, our Sunni Arab neighbors, Europe, the United States, and the entire world would be if this nuclear power were to be in the hands of moderate secularists rather than this fanatic, Islamist regime?

Please help us to partner with these secular Iranian dissident organizations and to be able to hire more staff to advocate for the voiceless people of Iran, and to overthrow this venal, ruthless Iranian regime.

These people should not die in vain. EMET is determined to hold hearings with the expatriate Iranian-American dissident community so that these names will eventually become household words. We aim to make up for the lack of media exposure that our nation’s television networks are not giving to these valiant, Iranian people.

EMET is more than a simple think tank—We aim to make a difference.

Support EMET. Support the Truth.

Thank you very much,

Sarah Stern
