John,
For 25 years, PJI has represented churches and pastors, triumphing over the injustice committed by those in power and all at no cost to our clients. Gateway City Church v Newsom in 2022 was no different.
Earlier this year, PJI secured a huge win and a six-figure damage award for five California churches that were closed by Santa Clara County (CA) COVID-19 public health orders. It started last year when the U.S. Supreme Court granted our emergency writ of injunction in a 6-3 decision, allowing the churches to open their doors to hold indoor worship services. The Supreme Court agreed with PJI that the County's orders discriminated against churches by treating establishments such as grocery stores and airports more favorably.
After almost a year of negotiations, we reached a favorable settlement on behalf of the churches, successfully concluding their challenge to the County's health orders that had banned all indoor church services.
Give today to help ensure the mission of PJI continues!
I stated to CBN News, “PJI doesn't quit until justice is completely served, as evidenced by our unwavering challenge to the County's reprehensible health orders and our completion of a major financial settlement for the churches. This is a classic illustration of what Benjamin Franklin meant when he coined the phrase 'doing well by doing good.' PJI protected the religious rights of the churches, and this victory manifests in the churches' continued opportunities to ensure that peoples' eternal destinies are secured—the best kind of remuneration.”
“I have a unique gratitude for Pacific Justice Institute in that they helped us achieve a victory over a complete shut-down that was taking place in our county. We went all the way to the Supreme Court with the help of PJI and what a victory had; we won the case and 300 churches were opened in the county.
Later, we sued Governor Gavin Newsom and won. We could not have done this without the skill, guidance and leadership of Pacific Justice Institute. In your year-end giving, I was just wondering if you have a place in your heart and in your wallet for an extra gift for them. They're doing the Lord’s work and I can tell you 300 churches in Santa Clara County are grateful for PJI.” - Pastor David Cannistraci, Gateway City Church in Santa Clara County, CA
A significant amount of PJI’s annual support comes in December.
This year, generous partners have pledged a year-end matching grant totaling $350,000. That means that right now, your gift to PJI will be doubled by this matching grant. If you become a new donor, a monthly donor, or increase your monthly giving, those funds will be doubled!
So...
your new $35 monthly gift = $70/month for the next 12 months
your new $100 monthly gift = $200/month for the next 12 months
your new $250 monthly gift = $500/month for the next 12 months
Will you help us close out the year strong with a generous financial gift today?

And further, according to the highly respected Charity Navigator assessment organization (which evaluates hundreds of thousands of charitable organizations), more of your donation goes to the work of providing world-class legal representation at no charge to those in need than any other nonprofit legal defense organization in America!
Thank you for your thoughtful consideration.
