This is monumental, folks:

Donald Trump is now the first president in U.S. history to be formally referred by Congress for potential prosecution to the Justice Department. Ever since January 6th and throughout the Jan. 6 Committee’s investigation, we have been adamant about proving to the American people that no one—not even the president—is above the law, and this final step boldly symbolizes that.

With all of the evidence and testimony the Jan. 6th Committee gathered, it is overwhelmingly clear that Trump committed several major crimes on and around January 6th and was directly responsible for the deadly attack on the Capitol that day. And while this referral is mostly symbolic, it is a huge step towards finally holding him accountable. Congress has done its job upholding the law, and now it’s time for the Justice Department to do theirs. And I have hope that they will.

But our work of holding Republicans accountable and defending our democracy doesn’t stop here, and now that we’re in a slim minority in the House, we need to give everything we’ve got to this work. Can you chip in to help fuel our efforts to stand up to MAGA Republicans and protect our democracy and the rule of law in the new Congress? [[link removed]]
