Hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend, folks! I’m home in Colorado this week, enjoying some quality time with my family and loved ones, and taking some time to reflect on my first two years in Congress.
This time in 2020, I was gearing up to head to Washington to take my oath of office as the newest U.S. Senator from Colorado. That day, I made a promise — not just to myself, but to the people I represent and to our country — that I’d work my heart out for our state, and that I would do everything in my power to bring common sense and decency to our work.
So much has happened since then.
Early last year, our Democratic majorities got right to work tackling the COVID-19 pandemic and passed legislation to expand access to vaccines and help folks make it through that challenging time.
Then, we worked across the aisle to secure a once-in-a-generation investment to modernize our nation’s infrastructure. And I was thrilled that this legislation included the RECHARGE Act, our bill to make driving electric vehicles more affordable and accessible.
This year, we passed the Inflation Reduction Act — a historic bill that’ll lower health care costs, reduce our nation’s deficit, and make the largest investment ever to fight climate change — all while making sure large corporations pay their fair share.
And earlier this month, we passed the Respect for Marriage Act, finally protecting same-sex marriage by federal law.
We’ve made incredible progress over the last two years, and I can’t stress this enough: None of it would have been possible without you.
Every time I step foot in the Capitol, I remember that it’s folks like you who put me there. It’s because of you that we won our bitterly competitive race in 2020 and flipped the Senate — and it’s because of you that we grew our majority just last month.
We still have a lot of work ahead of us, and I’ll be honest, making progress won’t be easy with the House majority in Republicans’ hands. But I’ll never stop working to make good on the promise I made almost two years ago, and with this incredible team by my side, I know we’re capable of anything.
Your support has made the difference in our fight for progress time and again. So, will you help us prepare for the tough fights ahead and keep this work going by pitching in ahead of our end-of-year fundraising deadline on Saturday?
