Hi John —
At the end of last month, I was voted by my colleagues to serve as a co-chair of the Democratic House Policy and Communications Committee in the 118th Congress.
I am so proud to be the first Black woman elected to House Democratic leadership in over 30 years, and I’m honored to have this opportunity to build on the progress we’ve made in the last two years.
It’s moments like these that remind me just how important our work on this campaign really is.
It’s because of grassroots supporters like you that we were able to win Democratic majorities in both chambers of Congress in 2020 and secure historic wins for our shared values — from lowering the cost of prescription drugs and expanding affordable health care access, to fighting climate change, protecting marriage equality, modernizing our nation’s infrastructure, and so much more.
And it’s because of you that we were able to defeat our far-right opponent this November so we can continue building on this important work and make progress for working families everywhere.
As I’m sure you know, we still have a lot of important work ahead of us. And I won’t sugarcoat it: it’ll be a lot tougher to get our priorities across the finish line with Republicans in the majority. But with this team by my side, I know we’re capable of anything.
As I assume my position in Democratic leadership in just one week, I’ll be turning to this incredible team every step of the way — not only to support my campaign and my work in Congress, but to help us elect more changemakers to Washington who will reflect the diversity of our nation and champion the issues that matter most.
So John, will you stand by us as we fight for a better future by pitching in to our campaign today? Anything you can give today will help us lay the groundwork for the tough fights ahead.
