Call for Workshop Presentations for the 2023 LED Partnership Virtual Workshop
The LEHD program is welcoming proposals to present at the 2023 LED Partnership Virtual Workshop held on March 28-30, 2023. We will be highlighting the work of our state Labor Market Information (LMI) partners and other data users through plenary sessions.
This year’s theme is “LED: Big Data Illuminating Local Outcomes,” and we are interested in presentations from a wide variety of disciplines, including, but not limited to: workforce development, economic development, transportation planning, economic analysis, and emergency management. We are particularly interested in examples from our state partners and strongly encourage LMI shops to apply.

2020 Census Urban Areas Release
On *Thursday, December 29*, we will release the list of 2020 Census urban areas as well as clarification of criteria for identifying both individual urban areas and the rural areas of the nation.

After each decennial census, we redefine urban and rural areas to provide a baseline for analyzing urban and rural populations and economic activity.

Census Bureau Projects U.S. and World Populations on New Year’s Day
As our nation prepares to ring in the new year, the U.S. Census Bureau will release total population projections for the nation and world for January 1, 2023. For the nation, these projections show annual population growth and growth since Census Day (April 1) 2020. The release, *scheduled for December 29*, will also include components of change estimates (births, deaths and net international migration). Simulated real-time growth of the U.S. and world populations is available on the Census Bureau’s Population Clock.

Basics of Using the Microdata Access Tool
Our participatory classes walk you through examples of creating tables in the Microdata Access Tool (MDAT) within data.census.gov. Microdata Access on data.census.gov/mdat allows you to create custom tables that are not available in the pre-made tables on data.census.gov without having to use your own statistical software or special programming.
Registration is required to attend these workshops. Attendance is limited to 50 participants per session.
