The Amazon Defenders Fund mobilizes flexible and timely solidarity funds directly into the hands of Indigenous leaders, peoples, and organizations. These funds support their self-determination and solutions for the rainforest.

We work quickly: Our partners reach out to us, and our team works to get unrestricted solidarity grants out as soon as possible, sometimes even the same day, or within hours. These grants fund women-led initiatives, safety for Earth Defenders, Indigenous community organizing and strategizing, and rapid response to crises like fires, floods, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have always regranted funds directly to Indigenous peoples, and thanks to your support our capacity to do this has grown. Amazon Watch now devotes a third of our budget to the Amazon Defenders Fund, and in 2022-2023, our solidarity grants to our allies will exceed $2 million!
