I'm not usually the person sending you emails, but after seeing our fundraising results so far for the end of the year, I wanted to reach out because I'm a little nervous today, John:
Times are tough right now. So many people here in the United States and around the world are struggling to make ends meet. Unfortunately, that means our climate movement is at risk of seeing a big drop in our financial stability.
On top of that, companies like Exxon and Shell are making record-breaking profits every single year. Headlines about climate disasters are only getting more terrifying. And in all honesty, pretty soon there will be nowhere to hide from the climate crisis.
If I can be frank, falling short of our fundraising goals means we'll fall even further behind on building the campaigns we need to transition to 100 percent renewables. So while I don't usually ask, I needed to reach out to you:
Many people reading this email right now will not be able to donate for financial reasons. But if you are in a position to make a contribution of ANY amount today to support our climate campaigning, I am asking you to please chip in what you can — and maybe even a little bit more for the folks who want to, but can't afford it this time.
Thanks for taking the time to give this a read and considering making a contribution today.
All my best,
Rob Saunders
