Dear John,

In his recent letter, California Policy Center president Will Swaim mentioned a conversation with a very successful businessman who left California for Texas last summer.

“I’m pretty much giving up on California,” the entrepreneur said. “Let the state go to hell.”

It’s Will’s reply that I wanted to share with you today. Here’s what he said:

“You may have left California, but California won’t leave you alone.”

Think about it. Many supporters of the Biden administration in the media have discussed how the president considers California a policy “how-to manual” rather than a cautionary tale.

That is, the administration considers freedom-limiting, opportunity-crushing, state-impoverishing, Exodus-inducing measures pushed by the likes of Governor Gavin Newsom to be models for federal policy.

For the sake of Californians and the nation we love, we must stop them here.

California Policy Center was founded to restore principles of liberty in California—the same principles that made our beautiful state the world’s hub of creativity and innovation—and to provide hope for the future.

I’M IN! LET’S TAKE BACK CALIFORNIA!

The stakes could not be higher. If we succeed in this mission, we may save America from a nightmarish future. If we fail, America will fail. And, as Will said in his letter,

"If America fails, the world will go dark."

THIS is why your support of CPC today is so important.

Without it, we wouldn’t have had all of the wins my colleagues have been reporting these last few weeks. To mention just a few:

  • Membership of CPC’s Parent Union is growing rapidly, with some members running for office.
  • 400 prospective California candidates for office have taken CPC’s California Local Elected Officials (CLEO) Candidate Academy and are learning how to win elected office.
  • Four years after the Supreme Court's Janus ruling, the percentage of eligible government employees paying dues to unions has dropped from 100 percent to 73 percent in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022.
  • This drop in membership, which you have helped to happen through your support of CPC, means that annual union dues income has declined by almost $337 million.

These are just a few ways in which your support has contributed to a growing movement to Take Back California.

As 2022 ends, I ask you to help us grow our momentum in 2023 with an end-of-year, tax-deductible gift of $20, $50, $100, or even $250 or more today.

You’ve already empowered workers, parents, and local elected officials. You’ve helped restore common sense to California politics.

But we have much more to do next year. Please help Take Back California today.

With gratitude,

Jackson Reese
Vice President, California Policy Center

P.S. Every contribution today makes a difference! Your tax-deductible gift of $20, $50, $100, or even $250 or more will go a long way toward Taking Back California.

I’M IN! LET’S TAKE BACK CALIFORNIA!
