The research is unequivocal: building more housing in urban cores is one of the most important things we can do to address climate change. As one of our Urban Environmentalist Leads, Zack Subin, shares in this in-depth NY Times profile: “anyone who cares about climate policy really needs to pay a lot more attention to housing.”
That’s why so many of us are setting this as our 2023 New Year’s resolution: support Urban Environmentalists, the group of YIMBY Action chapters that are building a new environmentalist movement, a movement that embraces dense, walkable neighborhoods, and cities built around people, not cars. As Urban Environmentalist Taylor McNair writes in this beautiful op-ed: “The answer is clear: welcome more neighbors and allow them to thrive in comfortably sized, car-free homes with ample access to safe, equitable, low-carbon transportation options. In other words, be a YIMBY.”
To get a jumpstart on our 2023 resolution, we’re raising $5,000 in matched funds. That’s right, we have a match of up to $5,000 for all Urban Environmentalist donations through the end of the year. That means when you donate today, not only are you doubling your impact, you’re also fueling the fight for sustainable, human-centered communities.
Will you join us in resolving to fight for dense, walkable communities in 2023? Donate to Urban Environmentalists and let’s make it happen!
