The research is unequivocal: building more housing in urban cores is one of the most important things we can do to address climate change. That’s why so many of us are setting this as our 2023 New Year’s resolution: support Urban Environmentalists, the group of YIMBY Action chapters that are building a new environmentalist movement, a movement that embraces dense, walkable neighborhoods, and cities built around people, not cars. As Urban Environmentalist Taylor McNair writes in this beautiful op-ed: “The answer is clear: welcome more neighbors and allow them to thrive in comfortably sized, car-free homes with ample access to safe, equitable, low-carbon transportation options. In other words, be a YIMBY.”
