Rose,
Before being diagnosed with CF, you were labeled “failure to thrive.” Look at you now!
You will pursue your love of horses and be an international dressage competitor. Training for qualifiers means missing school, and often doing homework on your laptop with a nebulizer hanging out of your mouth. It will all be worth it.
As a result of your hard work, you’re accepted to the college of your dreams. You’re in the middle of your junior year right now and thriving as you work toward a double major in English and legal studies. Post-graduation, you’re considering graduate school – something that didn’t feel like an option, in the past.
This year, you’ll participate for the first time in a clinical trial for genetic therapies. As someone with rare and nonsense mutations, it feels incredible to be able to help the CF community move one step closer to curing CF.
