In 2022, AIPAC spent tens of millions of dollars to elect candidates who oppose justice and equality for Palestinians, including spending to try to defeat Rashida. They also supported more than 100 members of the far-right GOP Sedition Caucus―who voted against the certification of the 2020 presidential election. Clearly, AIPAC prioritizes far-right ideology over the preservation of democracy.

While AIPAC and their far-right candidates made modest gains in the 2022 midterm election, and PACs related to AIPAC defeated candidates like Nida Allam in North Carolina, we were successful in beating back their attacks on Rashida and her new sister-in-service, Congresswoman-elect Summer Lee.

Pro-AIPAC super PACs spent more than $1 million attempting to defeat Rashida in her Democratic primary through mailers, and TV and digital ads, and they spent another $4 million in Summer Lee’s primary and general elections―among their many attempts to defeat progressive women of color and back candidates who would rubberstamp U.S. military aid to the apartheid Israeli government, which continues to expand illegal settlements and attack Palestinian rights.
