As we head into the New Year, we’re taking a look back at 2022, and reflecting on how much we have to be grateful for. We are grateful for our founder Dean Karlan’s recent appointment as USAID's Chief Economist. This is a huge step forward in ensuring that USAID funds are invested in evidence-backed interventions, which is "good for almost all of humanity,” as a member of our Board recently put it.

We are grateful for the impact we were able to achieve in 2022, and are looking forward to an even more impactful 2023. From the award-winning work using machine learning, satellite imagery, and cell phone metadata to find the “invisible poor,” to the first results announced from our Human Trafficking Research Initiative, to the increased interest in and expansion of our Embedded Labs, 2022 was a year full of impact.

We are grateful for your support. Thank you for your partnership and for all you do to support our mission to create a world with more evidence, and less poverty.
