ADL Philadelphia Newsletter November 2021

Dear Friend,

Last week, ADL stood with a variety of community stakeholders including NAACP Bucks County, The Rainbow Room, and Bucks County Kehilla to denounce the dangerous inflammatory rhetoric of the letters received by Pennsbury School Board Members. While everyone may have differing opinions on issues, we must all come together to denounce harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence to a school board or anyone. The dangerous rhetoric we have heard recently could catalyze violence, whether directed at the Jewish community or other minority groups. Schools must continue to be a safe place for all children to grow, learn, and understand how to create a more just and fair future through the
teachings of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

ADL was honored to welcome Vice President Kamala Harris to address Never Is Now at our opening session. "We cannot allow hate crimes to surge and extremism to flourish in this country." Vice President Harris emphasized our national resolve to push extremism back to the margins of society, and to root out violent domestic terrorism. If you missed it, watch the opening session and other program recordings

As our year comes to an end, we want to thank you for your continued support over the past 20 months. ADL’s work has always been critical to securing the safety of our communities and the pandemic has thrown that need into stark relief. Our work is not the work of a day or a single person – we appreciate you standing with ADL and hope you will consider including the organization as you plan your end of year giving. Please reach out to Lisa Welsch

Boyertown, Pennsylvania recently showed that the community has far more love than hatred after the sad and shameful defacing of the “No Place for Hate” mural (picture of original mural seen here). The mural commemorates the Boyertown School District’s designation as Pennsylvania’s first “No Place For Hate” school district awarded by the ADL in 2006. Read more here.
