Porkies Winter Sports Complex set to open Friday

Ready for some Pure Michigan powder? The Porcupine Mountains Winter Sports Complex [ [link removed] ], located just inside the entrance to Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Michigan's western Upper Peninsula, will open its slopes Friday, Dec. 30.

There's something for everyone: first-timers, aspiring intermediates, thrill seekers, trail enthusiasts and anybody looking for some snowy outdoor fun!

You'll find stellar views of Lake Superior, a natural terrain park, glades (woodsy trails cut between each run) and a triple chairlift. There are also groomed winter trails open to cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and fat-tire biking. All you need is a Recreation Passport [ [link removed] ] to enter the park and a lift ticket [ [link removed] ] to use the triple lift.

The Porkies Winter Sports Complex is looking for lift and tow rope attendants. Stop at park headquarters to pick up an application, email [email protected] <[email protected]> or call 906-885-5275, ext. 0 for more information. *The hourly rate is $15, and employees ski for free.
