Polar bears

Hi John,

Polar bears need sea ice to survive. Without it they can't find food or rest.

But with ice vanishing at record levels because of the oil and gas industry's rampant greed, more and more of the bears are drowning.

That's why we're in court fighting to block 3,500 oil and gas permits.

Please help us stop the extinction crisis with a gift now to the Saving Life on Earth Fund. All gifts through Dec. 31 will be matched.

The Biden administration issued a staggering number of oil and gas permits in just its first 16 months in office.

These oil and gas wells could lead to over 500 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions. That would wreak havoc on ecosystems and set off a cascade of extinctions.

The Arctic is warming twice as fast as other parts of the world. Its summer sea ice could be gone in our lifetimes.

Species like polar bears, ringed seals, sea turtles and others, who are already struggling with deteriorating habitat, would be pushed closer to the brink.

The Endangered Species Act requires agencies to be guided by the best available science. We took the Bureau of Land Management to court because in issuing the permits, it failed to account for the damage such oil and gas exploration will cause.

We won't let polar bears and other imperiled species be sacrificed, and public lands spoiled, just to pad the pockets of greedy corporate interests. We'll keep taking government agencies to court until they stop selling out wildlife.

The planet's biodiversity can't survive with more pollution in the air and habitat drilled and destroyed.

For more than three decades we've led the fight to save species on the brink. We'll never stop.

Please help now by making a matched gift to the Saving Life on Earth Fund.

For the wild,
