Congratulations to Manoma for identifying this hiding Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias). According to All About Birds, this four-foot tall bird only weighs 5-6 lbs. Great Blue Herons can hunt day and night thanks to a high percentage of rod-type photoreceptors in their eyes that improve their night vision.
