Friend,
With the price of everything going up, the holidays have been a struggle for many families this year – especially workers excluded from unemployment. Two years into the pandemic, many New Yorkers still haven’t recovered from months without income.
In 2023, we can make sure that never happens again. Can you support our fight for a safety net for all workers by making a contribution to NYCC?
The pandemic laid bare the gaps in our unemployment system. With no work and no support, thousands of families relied on food pantries and private charities to survive.
NYCC and NYCOFI raised and distributed more than $100,000 of direct relief for our communities. We won a historic $2.1 Billion Excluded Workers Fund and Emergency Rental Assistance that provided much-needed relief to our communities, and we helped thousands of families apply for the funds.
The pandemic continues to wear on. And the future is even more uncertain. But we're setting our sights on more permanent solutions. The Unemployment Bridge Fund will extend benefits to people left out of traditional unemployment– freelancers, people recently released from incarceration, and undocumented workers.
Can you support this critical campaign by making a contribution to our work?
We don’t know what will happen in the future, but we can ensure New York learns the lessons of the past. With your support, we can keep fighting, keep winning and keep building the safe and healthy communities we deserve. Click here to make your contribution today.
Best,
Lucas Sanchez & Olivia Leirer
