In the wake of this year’s disastrous Supreme Court ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson — the decision that overturned nearly half a century of constitutionally-protected abortion rights established in Roe v. Wade — NILC released a Know Your Rights resource to help immigrants navigate questions and concerns about accessing abortion care.

Since the Supreme Court’s ruling, more than a dozen states have banned most abortions, with at least five more states banning the procedure as early as six weeks. Many of these laws make no exception in cases of rape, incest, or when necessary to protect the life of a patient. We know immigrants and people of color bear disproportionate harm under these bans.

On top of draconian state laws, immigrants face specific and significant barriers to accessing health care — including health insurance eligibility exclusions, lack of access to resources in their preferred languages, militarization of the border, interior CBP checkpoints, and more.

We at NILC will stop at nothing to protect the health of immigrant communities in every state. To bolster our advocacy efforts and help us continue to deliver critical resources, we need supporters like you to uplift our work ahead of our end-of-year deadline.
