HAPPY HOLIDAYS, Friend

Thank you for being part of The Trevor Project community — for your shared dedication to creating a more loving, more affirming world for LGBTQ young people.

Friend, join us in creating that world with your note to LGBTQ young people during the holidays. We’re still missing your letter and we want to make sure they can hear how much you support them.

BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS ARE OVER: SEND A NOTE TO LGBTQ YOUTH

The holidays can pose unique mental health challenges for LGBTQ young people who may not have access to supportive home environments or affirming spaces.

Spending just two minutes on a note to an LGBTQ young person can help show them just how loved they are >>

When writing to an LGBTQ young person, it can be helpful to imagine you’re writing to your younger self. What are the words that would’ve helped you know you are not alone? Check out what our Suicide Prevention Advocate of the Year, Janelle Monáe, wrote in their letter to their younger self:

Photo of Janelle Monáe with the text Young Janelle underneath with an arrow pointing to the photo with a quote on the right from Janelle Monáe that says “If I could go back and talk to my younger self, I would say build your community! Community is so important. Being affirmed by a community is a human-to-human necessity; it can be a beacon of light in times of darkness. Recognize that there will be people who don’t love or accept you as you’re walking in your truth, and it’s okay to let them go.”
LAST CHANCE TO SEND A LETTER

Thank you for showing LGBTQ young people how much they’re loved. And if you’re celebrating Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas.

So appreciative of this community,
The Trevor Project
