Caroline & Rosemary are both powerful agents of change in their communities.

Hi John,

This Christmas we’re shining a light on women who are leaders in their communities and the work they do to end to violence against women and girls. Last week, we introduced you to Caroline. Today we meet Rosemary.

Caroline and Rosemary (pictured above) are both powerful agents of change in their communities. Caroline has formed a grassroots organisation to tackle FGM in her community in Kenya, and Rosemary is campaigning for the inclusion of women with disabilities.
Rosemary’s story: Demanding change for women with disabilities
Women and girls with disabilities are up to four times more likely to experience violence than women without disabilities. Having experienced a lifetime of being excluded due to her disability, Rosemary has recently become a Councillor at the Kijunjubwa Sub County level in Masindi District, Uganda. In her role, she specifically represents women with disabilities.

“For years, we disabled people were never recognised or supported.
We never had a say. But today, I’m known… we are known.
I have benefitted from this leadership training... I got a tricycle so I can reach more women.”
I want to support women like Rosemary ([link removed])
Passionate women doing amazing things

Through programmes like AWESOME, we’re supporting trailblazing activists to be bigger, better and bolder - with tools and knowledge to understand the law on violence against women and leadership skills training to increase their confidence and ability to run in local elections.

Rosemary and Caroline’s passion and determination to make real change is hugely inspiring. But we need your support to pave the way for more changemakers like them.

This Christmas can you help us fund activists like Rosemary and Caroline in 2023 and into the future?
Yes, I'll chip in ([link removed])
Wishing you and your family well this festive period.

In solidarity
