Ohio will be changing ID requirements for voting within the state, which will again make it harder for folks to vote. HB 485 aims to shorten the early vote window, removing voting hours the Monday before an Election Day, shortening the amount of time voters have to both request and return an absentee ballot, and even changing the ID requirements needed to vote.

HB 485 will make it needlessly harder for Ohioans from all backgrounds to vote. And that’s the opposite of what Democrats are working toward: We believe voting should be accessible to everyone. And we know that when voting is inaccessible, it mainly excludes historically marginalized communities. That’s why we work to elect Dem AGs who fight against restrictive voting laws that disproportionately hurt seniors and Black and brown communities.
