Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Dear friends and supporters,

Firstly I want to wish you and your loved ones a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Secondly, let us not forget we still live in the greatest country ever to exist. I really believe that.  Also, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your contributions and volunteering for my 2022 Congressional campaign. I am still amazed and honored by the number of people who helped me and I don’t think I can ever say enough to express my gratitude.

To fill you in on my latest activities, l will tell you what I have been up to.  After losing my primary, I traveled to Kentucky as the keynote speaker at Constitutional Kentucky Annual Liberty Dinner, spoke at Michigan Parents Involved in Education, a chapter of USPIE.org event, went to Austin, Texas for an interview for a documentary, and visited the headquarters office of Young Americans for Liberty. On Nov. 12th, I was a keynote speaker at Sentinel Summit 2022 organized by Heritage Action in Fort Worth, Texas, and was one of three members on a China panel.

As you know, for the past five years I’ve been speaking around the country, including college campuses, middle, and high schools. My mission is to save America from the destruction being brought on by collectivists of all stripes (communists, fascists, socialists, and globalists.) My campaign for liberty is a nonstop effort and I am grateful for your continued support.

My website, YouTube channels, and social media links are still the same. You can always easily find me and share my messages. Due to Facebook shadow bans, however, I am now more active on Twitter at @Lily4Liberty. Please follow me there or use my website www.lilytangwilliams.com for a daily Twitter Feed on the bottom of my home page. I also plan to be more active to make videos and invite other immigrants to share their stories on my YouTube channel: Lily Tang Williams - YouTube

To start it off, here is my story of my first encounter with “Santa Clause” on China's Fudan University campus in Shanghai.

In 1982, while I was a sophomore studying law (a 4-year college degree in China). There was a winter party organized by the school, with college girls dressed in PLA (People's Liberation Army) uniforms to sing and dance. Near the end, "Santa" came in his red suit showed up with some gifts while Christmas songs playing in the background, saying "HO HO HO, MERRY CHRISTMAS" gave out gifts randomly to the audience.

I did not get any gifts but I sat amazed with my eyes wide open (at the bottom of the picture looking back).

Free presents without any strings attached? Wow, I wished Santa came when I was a hungry child 10 years earlier. I wanted Santa to come to our campus each Christmas and hoped I would get one gift the next time he came. Anyway, Santa's happy warm voice, bright red outfit, cheerful music and generously giving out presents touched my heart like the rain drops on the desert. My heart needed that after spending my childhood during the Cultural Revolution under Mao until his death six years earlier.

My first real Christmas was celebrated after arriving in Austin, TX in 1988 when John and I were long-distance dating while we were in graduate school.  He was studying Physics at Texas A&M and I was studying Administration and Planning in the School of Social Work at UT Austin.  He and his parents invited me to join their family for Christmas in Austin. In the picture I am holding John’s stocking, made in 1959 by his grandmother and my first stocking as one of my gifts.

I guess I finally had my first real childhood too!

There are many first times and unforgettable memories I have in America. Years later, I am living my American Dream but I can never forget my first encounter with “Santa Clause.” I always have warm feelings about Christmas and Santa. I wish all the people in the world who still live in poverty and under tyranny today will have a Santa to visit them, give presents and share the spirit of love.  I will never take my new life and freedom in this country for granted.

Again, Merry Christmas to you all.

Love,

Lily
