Together, let's act to defend and free imprisoned journalists.

Dear Friends,
As the holidays approach, along with long-awaited reunions with family and friends, let us have a special thought for all the journalists who are imprisoned or held hostage around the world.
A total of 533 women and men are going to spend these festivities in captivity for the sole reason that they are journalists. They include Narges Mohammadi in Iran, Pham Doan Trang in Vietnam and Olivier Dubois, who is still a hostage in Mali. Let’s not forget them.
By donating to Reporters Without Borders (RSF), ([link removed]) you help us to continue working in the field – in courts and with families – to obtain the release of journalists who are the victims of arbitrary authorities.
We thank you in advance for your presence at our side.
Narges Mohammadi - Iran
Iranian journalist Narges Mohammadi has spent only a few months out of prison since 2011. But she does not lose hope and continues to call for civil disobedience, always with a smile on a lips. She has written dozens of articles from prison, has made a documentary, and has even published a book on the conditions of women in Iran’s jails. Despite having heart problems, she was given 154 lashes and has been subjected to other forms of torture and mistreatment. She was awarded RSF’s Prize for Courage in December 2022.
Pham Doan Trang - Vietnam
Pham Doan Trang, a Vietnamese journalist who was awarded the RSF Prize for Impact in 2019, has been detained since October 2020. She is serving a nine-year sentence on a charge of “anti-state propaganda” that was confirmed on appeal in August. She refused to plead guilty at her trial although it was the only way to get a lighter sentence.
She has been completely cut off from her family for more than two years and has many health problems, including the after-effects of Covid-19, which she caught in prison.
Olivier Dubois - Mali
Olivier Dubois, a French reporter for Libération, Le Point and Jeune Afrique, has been held hostage for more than 20 months, ever since he was abducted by the Support Group for Islam and Muslims (JNIM) in Mali on 8 April 2021.
RSF is in close contact with his family and colleagues, and has been helping to coordinate advocacy, communication and awareness-raising activities with civil society representatives with the aim of obtaining his release.
