Friends of TLC,
Thank you for all the ways you showed up this past year. If you haven't already made a year-end contribution to our work, we hope you'll consider starting or upgrading your monthly gift, or making a one-time gift before December 31st, all tax-deductible.
With your support in 2022, we took on or continued litigation reflecting our focus on criminalization, prisons, healthcare access, and immigration—just a few of the clients we're representing:
-
A Latine trans woman housed in a men’s prison who was never identified as a survivor of trafficking until TLC intervened.
- Roxsana Hernández’s family, in our continued efforts to hold ICE responsible for Roxsana's death.
-
Through a class-action lawsuit, all transgender women currently incarcerated in Colorado state prisons.
We met increased demand for individualized legal information, responding to nearly 2,000 requests for legal resources and referrals, including more than 800 inquiries from trans people who are incarcerated across the US.
We continued our collaboration with the Border Butterflies Project for LGBTQIA+ migrants at the US-Mexico border, with legal support to over 300 LGBTQIA+ migrants in the past year.
We provided direct support to trans leaders and organizations in states under attack by anti-trans legislation and policy efforts, including to longtime grassroots partners in Texas and Alabama—from advising, to testifying, to joining on-the-ground organizing, to fundraising.
Our Gender Justice Leadership Programs provided leadership development for a cohort of 15 trans youth leaders from across the country, and our new Roses Initiative built supportive leadership networks for trans girls of color.
