We Don’t Ask for Change, We Work to Make That Change a Reality

Dear Email,

We have seen countless Israeli crimes unfold in Palestine this year, including against American citizens, and we have seen our own government fail time and again to stand on the side of justice, shielding Israel from accountability instead of standing up for what’s right, or even the rights of its own citizens.

The Biden administration talks a big game about freedom, democracy, and human rights as core American values that drive U.S. policy. But when it comes to Israel, Biden has maintained a status quo in which these values are quickly abandoned, and Israel is treated like a country above the law. This complicity needs to come to an end.

Now with the most extreme far-right Israeli government coming to power, we undoubtedly have more difficult days ahead. The Biden administration is expressing concern over the violent fanatics in this government, but at the same time, it is ruled out using any leverage the US has to rein the Israeli government in. Indeed, the Biden administration boasts about enabling and abetting the Israeli government in one breath while expressing displeasure with its actions in the next. We don’t end this incoherent hypocrisy by simply asking for it to end; we do the work that makes it impossible for our government to continue down this path.

This year, we pushed relentlessly for an investigation into the killing of Palestinian American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh until we got it, we demanded that Israel be removed from Visa Waiver consideration over its discriminatory practices, and we took to the streets in the thousands from coast to coast to protest Israel’s crimes. These are just a small fraction of what we’ve done this year, and we are serious about doing much more in the year to come. We are dedicated to this fight in words and in actions with a bold and unwavering commitment, and we hope you can support us with a year-end contribution so we can continue doing this work until American policy lives up to the values it professes, and until Palestine is free.

Thank you for your continued support, this work wouldn’t be possible without you!

Sincerely,

Ayah Ziyadeh
