Dear John,
For many of us, the holidays are a time to get together with loved ones and enjoy shared moments, laughter and the excitement of children. This year, in these exceptional times, what matters most is being there for each other.

Today, we’d like you to talk to you about Vira, a woman full of courage and care for others. When the local hospital in her village of Vysokopilila, located between Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhya, was damaged, she spent her time caring for her neighbours, even as the bombs continued to fall. 

“I could have died any moment. Several missiles exploded in my backyard. But I’ve never thought of leaving my people.”

When our teams managed to get to Vysokopilila in October, we provided Vira and the other residents with what they so desperately needed – medicine, bandages, hygiene items and food. We were able to do so thanks to donations from generous people like you. 

Our teams provide vital aid in more than 100 countries around the world, but we also bring comfort. With the support of our donors, we can be there for traumatized mothers and grieving families. We can comfort children who’ve known only war and lost everything. We can be there, when it matters.

Sadly, armed conflict rages on throughout the world, and more and more families need our help. Some are facing freezing temperatures in houses with gaping holes in the walls, or winters in cities without water, food or electricity. For those who need us the most, your gifts are precious.
