Hi there,

My name is Ann Mei, and I'm the Chief Innovation Officer here at Pete for America, leading our tech, data, and analytics teams. What that means is we work behind the scenes to do things like slice and dice data to help our team understand the state of the race.

As you know, two new polls came out in Iowa and New Hampshire this week. So, what did we learn? This race is extremely close in both states. That is because the margin of error for these polls is between 3-5%.

Usually, campaigns hold their insights from polls very close to their chest, but we want our supporters to understand how we’re viewing our place in the race, so here are some of the insights we've gleaned from these polls and our own data:

The DMR poll (the Iowa poll released yesterday) measures responses differently than most polls because they call people on their cellphones. This means the results of the poll come from a much broader audience than most. It shows that this race is truly in a dead heat.
Support levels for Pete are dramatically higher in Iowa and New Hampshire where voters have gotten to know Pete up close and personal, and where his name recognition approaches 100%. In contrast, nationally only about two-thirds of voters have even heard of Pete, which means we will reap the benefits once folks start tuning into our campaign.
One thing we've found particularly interesting in these polls is that Pete appeals to a wide range of voters, both young and old, rural and urban, male and female -- whereas other candidates have a narrower coalition.
Historically, winning the Iowa Caucuses or New Hampshire primary can generate more than a 5% increase in support across the country. Doing well here is crucial to building our momentum as we head into the rest of the early states and an incredibly large and diverse set of states on Super Tuesday.

I'm more comfortable working with data than I am asking for help. But this is a moment when digging deep will really make a difference.

Can you make a donation tonight to help us keep running the programs that will reach voters across the country? People need to get to know Pete -- and you can help. Chip in right now to help us reach our 10,000 donation goal this weekend. [[link removed]]
