We fund voter protection John, Even though the midterms are over, anti-democracy Republican politicians are still working to make it harder for communities of color and low income communities to cast their ballots. Rejecting improperly dated ballots disproportionately impacts communities of color in Pennsylvania, data shows Recent data has shown that voters in non-white communities in Pennsylvania are disproportionately more likely to have their votes thrown out. Enacting high barriers to voting in the name of preventing unsubstantiated acts of “voter fraud” is just a political tactic by Republicans, and we need to call it out when we see it.
Here’s the good thing: pro-democracy forces are already taking action to prevent this sort of voter discrimination from happening in the future. The ACLU of Pennsylvania and the NAACP are suing the Pennsylvania Department of State to have ballots that were improperly thrown out counted correctly. But it isn’t enough to fight in court, we have to defeat Big Lie supporters at the ballot box too. That’s why we’re funding voter protection staff in battleground states who are preparing now to fight for voters in 2024. Thanks,
