According to some experts, Republicans owe their narrow House majority to the weakening of the Voting Rights Act.

Don’t forget: In the months following the 2020 election, Republican lawmakers passed dozens of voter suppression bills in states across the country. Now that the GOP has taken control of the House majority, we fully expect them to continue their assault on voting rights at the national level.
This sustained Republican attack on voting rights threatens the foundations of our democracy – but we’re not powerless against it. As President Obama said, “Our democracy is resilient as long as we stay engaged and active between elections.”
