Don’t worry — this isn’t a fundraising email! While the legislative session “fundraising freeze” is in effect until next spring, I will continue to send occasional updates on my work on behalf of Washingtonians.
This week we announced proposed legislation for the upcoming legislative session — two common-sense public safety measures to address gun violence.
The first is a renewed call to ban the sale of military-style assault weapons. The second is a new proposal, requiring gun manufacturers and retailers to take reasonable steps to prevent their products from getting into the hands of dangerous individuals.
Check out more information here.
A ban on the sale of military-style assault weapons is overwhelmingly popular among Washingtonians. A recent
Seattle Times poll found that over 60% of Washingtonians support such a ban.
At the press conference, I stood with Governor Inslee, Ingraham High School student Sophie Blazejova, and more than a dozen elected officials and community leaders to share our vision for gun safety and announce these crucial bills.
It’s critical that we pass these common-sense safety measures for our children, schools, and community.
Thank you,
Bob
