John,
Did you see Rashida’s message below about her new Restaurant Workers Bill of Rights?
Rashida is a tireless fighter for workers’ rights. Just last week, at a rally in support of paid sick leave for railway workers, Rashida said:
“We do live in the richest country on the planet, and no worker should have to choose between their health and a paycheck…. The right to strike, I believe, is the single most powerful tool for our workers to fight injustice, and yes, to fight corporate greed in our country.”
Rashida authored a letter to President Biden―along with Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jamaal Bowman, Cori Bush and more than 70 of her congressional colleagues―demanding executive action to provide railway workers with the paid sick leave they deserve.
Pitch in today to support Rashida’s leadership in our shared struggle for workers’ rights and wages.

John,
For more than 30 years, the federal subminimum wage for tipped workers has remained stuck at $2.13 an hour. This creates financial instability for millions of restaurant workers―the majority of whom are women, people of color, and immigrants.
That’s why, this week, I introduced the Restaurant Workers Bill of Rights―legislation co-sponsored by my colleagues Reps. Chuy Garcia and Marie Newman.
At a time when millions of workers are rising up, demanding the right to fair pay, scheduling, and benefits, greedy corporations such as Starbucks and Chipotle are retaliating by closing stores and denying unionized workers’ benefits. Restaurant workers deserve the dignity of consistent wages to allow them to pay rent and make ends meet each month.
Become a grassroots co-sponsor of the Restaurant Workers Bill of Rights today to fight for fair wages and a safe, dignified working environment for millions of restaurant workers across the country.
I grew up in a working class household. When my dad joined the United Auto Workers (UAW), he ensured we had health insurance for the first time. That’s why the issue of fair pay and benefits is so personal to me.
Restaurant workers have been unvalued and exploited for far too long. Over half of our restaurant workers are single mothers. They deserve the right to universal healthcare, the right to form a union, the right to thriving wages, fair scheduling, and a safe, dignified working environment.
So I introduced this legislation in partnership with worker members of the Restaurant Opportunities Centers (ROC) United.
We can’t allow greedy corporations to continue to put profits ahead of workers’ rights and wages. Join me in supporting millions of working people by becoming a grassroots co-sponsor of the Restaurant Workers Bill of Rights today!
No one should have to worry about paying rent at the end of the month or making ends meet because they can’t rely on consistent tips or paid sick leave. No worker should be exploited, retaliated against, or denied benefits—especially for organizing for better working conditions and a better quality of life.
Thank you for fighting by my side for workers’ basic human rights.
In solidarity,
Rashida
