The spirit of the holiday season is all about building goodwill and giving back. Today, I’d like to share with you the story of Heather, the Forward State Lead in Michigan. If Heather’s words resonate with you and you see a little of your own Forward story in hers, please consider making a year-end contribution right now. All grassroots gifts are being matched up to $25,000 by a generous donor. <[link removed]>

Thanks, and here’s Heather’s story.

For the majority of my life, I haven’t been politically active or affiliated with a party. While I’m a firm believer in democracy and the greatness that is our U.S. Constitution, I never saw the need to be engaged beyond showing up to vote. Then Andrew Yang ran for president, and I felt that there was finally someone who was taking a more nuanced approach to solving the problems facing everyday Americans. For the first time in my life, I got involved in politics.

I continued to follow Yang’s political endeavors and when the Forward Party launched, I became active and engaged. What started as a simple request for more information on Forward has since turned into a State Leadership position. Through this role, I have the opportunity to connect with Michiganders and Americans to learn how the political extremes have affected their families and friendships. At Forward, I get to witness people of all political backgrounds work together to build a community focused on conversation and common ground.

Through these experiences, I’ve learned how similar we all truly are. If you’re a parent like me, I’m sure you, too, worry about what kind of country our children will inherit. Every day, I am inspired to work towards a future America that will bring about change and cooperation. I feel hopeful for the future my children will inherit.

Forward has a vision that our government can become a solutions-based multi-party system, building community while respecting individual autonomy. Americans are hard-working, amazing people who deserve a democracy that's neither left nor right, but Forward. I welcome you to be inspired along with me.

Thanks,

Heather Herrygers
