** This storm is no joke, folks! Reliable sources of energy and grid resiliency matter!

Colorado Public Radio ([link removed]) (12/22/22) reports: "Bitter cold and snow swept across Colorado overnight, leading to flight cancellations, road closures and a handful of power outages. At 5 a.m., the National Weather Service reported a temperature of -14 at Denver International Airport. When combined with the wind and humidity, the “feels like” temperature was a dangerous -29. Spots on the eastern plains reported even lower temperatures, including -16 in Yuma. And it may still get colder. Officials suggest staying home Thursday if possible. If you do have to go out, limit your exposure and wear layers. Transportation officials are warning of potential flash freezing on roads, especially along Interstate 70. CDOT said sub-zero temperatures rapidly freeze any surface moisture, which could create icy conditions. The agency spent Tuesday pre-treating troublesome spots in the metro area, including bridges, overpasses and shady areas
on major routes. Travelers are urged to pack a blanket, water and other emergency supplies in case they get stuck while on the road. Early Thursday, a handful of roads across the state had been closed due to hazardous conditions. Those included I-70 in both directions between Limon and Burlington and U.S. 40 in both directions between Steamboat Springs and Kremmling. The Colorado Department of Transportation recommends checking cotrip.org before venturing out if travel is absolutely necessary."

** “I can sum up the solution to climate change in two sentences: We need to eliminate global emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050. Extreme weather is already causing more suffering, and if we don’t get to net-zero emissions, our grandchildren will grow up in a world that is dramatically worse off.”

Impressive turnaround, but how many wells could have been drilled in that same amount of time?

(12/17/22) reports: "German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and other senior government officials officially opened the country's first floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal on Saturday. The opening of the LNG import terminal is a milestone in Germany's plans to find alternate sources of natural gas. Berlin was forced to quickly shift its heavy reliance on Russian fossil fuel imports in the wake of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine. Speaking in the northern port city of Wilhelmshaven where the LNG terminal is located, Scholz praised how quickly the facility was built. The terminal, floating off the North Sea coast, was built in a record time of just under 10 months. The project shows that Germany "is capable of new beginnings and speed," Scholz said at the inauguration ceremony. The chancellor added that Germany's LNG projects will help make the country 'independent from pipelines out of Russia.' Economy Minister Robert Habeck, Finance Minister Christian Lindner and Lower Saxony state premier
Stephan Weil were also in attendance. 'We are taking a very important step today for energy supply security in Germany,' Habeck said. The Green Party politician also emphasized that the government is 'pushing renewable energy' sources with the same zeal. Scholz greenlit the LNG projects on February 27 this year — just days after Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the invasion of Ukraine."

Maybe next time the "peakers" will get it right, but their track record says otherwise...

(12/21/22) reports: "Rep. Dan Bishop, R-N.C., highlighted a 'sinister' feature in the omnibus bill released on Tuesday that allocates funds for 'reproductive health' in areas where 'population growth threatens biodiversity.' The massive $1.7 trillion bill was released earlier that day with the expectations that Congress shall vote on it Wednesday. Several Republican figures, including Bishop, criticized the 4,200-page bill as more wasteful spending from the federal government passed without any clear knowledge of what’s in the text. Bishop documented many of the examples from his Twitter account, including over half a billion dollars into 'reproductive health' in places that could threaten endangered species. 'On a more sinister note, here's at least $575 million for ‘family planning’ in areas where population growth ‘threatens biodiversity.’ Malthusianism is a disturbing, anti-human ideology that should have ZERO place in any federal program,' Bishop tweeted."
