Hello John,
For Chinyere Osuigwe, serving as a Playworks coach is an opportunity to bring her personal connection to the power of play full circle.
Chinyere’s journey with Playworks began in 2012 when she was a Kelso Elementary School student. Charrel Cryer selected her to be a Junior Coach. A quiet child, Chinyere quickly broke out of her shell and became a leader in her school. Her role and responsibilities as a Junior Coach empowered her to work collaboratively with her classmates, teaching games and solving conflicts on the playground. Even as time marched on, she never forgot how great being a Junior Coach felt.
Fast forward to the 2022-2023 school year and Chinyere is proud to collaborate with the next generation of students as a Playworks coach at 95th Street Elementary School. This school year, she is guiding her own group of Junior Coaches. She’s creating empowering opportunities for play similar to the ones she experienced ten years ago.
