When the NDRC launched in 2017, we laid out a strategy to finally bring an end to GOP gerrymandering all over the country:

Supporting targeted state-level elections that can shift the balance of power in favor of fair maps
Showing up in court to protect fair redistricting
Mobilizing grassroots support for fair maps

We’ve made incredible progress with this strategy. Thanks to the fair redistricting movement and supporters like you, The New York Times reports that the 2022 congressional map could be the fairest and most balanced in a generation! But the fight isn’t over. In fact, we are now entering a new phase of our work.

We’re continuing to fight for fair maps in the states. We’re also, along with our affiliates, defending fair maps in court and supporting voters in lawsuits against manipulated maps. And the 2022 elections will add an important component to our work: We plan to hold Republicans accountable for the gerrymandering they've done, and to support candidates who will defend fair redistricting. All of these activities will be critical to cementing our progress and reversing GOP gerrymanders.

A.G. Holder: 'A new phase of this fight is developing: We'll have to meet manipulators head-on in the states where they've been able to engage in an unfair redistricting process... Now is not the time to let our foot off the gas in this fight.'
