Earlier this week, I called out Henry Cuellar for bending to Donald Trump on Iran.

Like nearly every Congressional Democrat, I did not support Trump’s unauthorized strike against Iran. It was the latest in a series of escalations that made our country less safe.

My opponent’s campaign responded by saying that I “stand with Iran and defend terrorism” and calling me “a liar, fraud, and puppet.”

There’s no doubt that Soleimani was a bad actor. But while Henry Cuellar called Trump’s strike a necessary step, I disagreed, as I believe it took us down the path toward another unnecessary endless war.

I know that Henry Cuellar and I don’t see eye to eye on policy, but these baseless and personal attacks don’t reflect the values of the Democratic Party.

Leadership starts at the top, and this isn’t the first time his campaign has launched an ad hominem attack on me. No Democrat should label another Democrat a ‘puppet’ for disagreeing with Donald Trump.
