Winter storm preparation
snow plows with salt
Our Public Works crews have been preparing for the significant winter storm that is expected to hit Thursday morning and continue through Saturday. Our team is pre-treating roadways with salt and the snowplows are prepped and ready to roll. Be aware that at extreme low temperatures salt loses its effectiveness on roads.?
For everyone's safety and ease of clearing roadways, please stay off the roads. If you must travel, make sure you check the forecast and pack an emergency supply kit.?
When plowing, our crews prioritize collector roads that provide access for large areas and then address neighborhood streets. The State of Illinois plows US Routes 30 and 34, and Illinois Routes 71 and 25. Kendall County plows Orchard Road.
As a reminder, parking is not allowed on village streets after 2 inches of snow (1 inch downtown) until the roadways have been cleared.

Holiday closures and waste collection
Garbage collection will be delayed by one day on Dec. 26 and Jan. 2. Village Hall will be closed Dec. 23 and 26 in observance of Christmas, and Jan. 2 in observance of New Year's Day.
Free Christmas tree collection will begin on January 3.?Place your bare tree, free from lights and decorations, by the curb on your regularly scheduled garbage day.? Do not bag your tree or place a yard waste sticker on it. The free collection ends Jan. 13. Residents who miss the free tree collection will be required to wait until April when the yard waste program starts up again and a sticker will be required at that time.
