We launched a trial of the UK?s first wireless charging electric hackney taxis
WiCET project partners
Wireless Charging of Electric Taxis (WiCET) is a ?3.4 million project funded by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles through Innovate UK to assess the commercial and technical viability of deploying wireless charging for electric hackney cabs.
Nine taxis have been fitted with the technology and five wireless charging pads were installed on the Trent Street rank outside Nottingham Station over the summer.
Following the launch in September [ [link removed] ] local drivers have begun trialling the technology and providing feedback on their experiences. With many drivers already beginning to see the benefits it can bring. ?

We've hit 100 loans through the Electric Van Experience
The Electric Van Experience (EVE) has continued to support businesses and organisations with offering them the chance to loan an electric van.
Recently, we celebrated our 100th loan to Mark Bushnell Ltd [ [link removed] ], a local cameraman, who was thrilled to have the opportunity to see what using one is like saying "I absolutely love it and really don?t want to give it back!". We've improved the e-scooter trial
E-scooter docking station
With Superpedestrian completing their first full year in Nottingham, many improvements and progress has been made with the e-scooter trial. Over 1 million rides have taken place this year with 2.5 million kilometres travelled.
Docking stations [ [link removed] ] have now been introduced in key locations across the city to help tackle parking issues. Regular events have taken place each month to educate the public how to safely use e-scooters on the streets of Nottingham.
The new Pedestrian Defence technology is to be introduced in the coming weeks with the software able to detect when users are riding on the pavement. The e-scooter trial has now been extended [ [link removed] ] to May 2024.

We've added charge points to the D2N2 network
Broadmarsh EV chargers
Our D2N2 publically accessible charge point network continued to grow in 2022, with more chargers added this year including the first ultra-rapid 150kW charger at Castle Boulevard/Willoughby Street. Use of the network is also continuing to rise as more local residents transition to EVs. November saw a record month for the network for the total charge events in a month!
The Broadmarsh car park has made a key contribution to the D2N2 charge point network - with 81 charging sockets available, it regularly ranks among the top 5 sites on the network for the number of charging events each month. It's there if you need a place to charge your electric car at work or just want to leave it whilst you go shopping or for a bite to eat.?
We plan to continue expanding the network in 2023. Through working with councillors and other departments at the council as well as some local residents, we have had many suggestions put forward for new charge point locations. These are currently being investigated, so that planning can began for the most suitable sites in the new year. These new sites will be funded through the Government?s Levelling Up Fund [ [link removed] ] and are particularly looking to target improving charging provision for residential areas with limited off-street parking.
