The program is open to college-bound dependents of active, retired or reserve LAPPL members (lieutenant rank and below only), who have held continuous membership in the League for more than one year prior to the scholarship application submission date. Up to $15,000 in scholarships will be awarded each year, for a period of two years with continued proof of meeting minimum GPA standards. To complete the application, click here.
- Applicant must be a 2020 high school graduate with a grade average of “C” or better.
- Qualification will be judged on academic record and extracurricular activities of those applicants whose paperwork is received by the cutoff date. If qualified to compete, applicants will be invited to participate in the essay portion of the Scholarship program.
- The essay will be administered on Saturday, March 21, 2020, at the League office. All essays must be completed on site. No alternative scheduling arrangements will be made. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Essays will be judged on the applicant’s ability to analyze the essay question and then appropriately respond to it in writing. Finalists will be selected by the League Scholarship Committee.
This is a unique opportunity for dependents of LAPPL members to earn scholarship assistance for the Fall 2020 and Fall 2021 college semester/quarter.
If you have a son or daughter you would like to be considered, please complete the Scholarship Application online. In addition to the application, you must request an official high school transcript be forwarded directly to the League, with senior year first semester grades included.
Your completed application and official transcript must both be received at the League office NO LATER than February 14, 2020, at 5 p.m. Postmark dates will not be considered — no exceptions.
All eligible applicants will be notified of their eligibility status by mail in early March, at which time successful applicants will also be provided further information regarding the exam administration.
Please note, after entering your email, you will be sent a re-connection link to continue the application in the event your session gets interrupted.
