The revelations about Congressman-elect George Santos are outrageous. It seems that nearly everything he told voters before the election was a lie – a false work history, a fake charity, a fake college degree, and where he lived. There are serious questions about his personal finances and his campaign's finances, as disclosed to the public.

The residents of New York's 3rd District deserve a Member of Congress who is working full-time on their behalf, not defending himself against a scandal of his own making. We deserve a Member of Congress we can trust to tell the truth.

We're also calling on the House Ethics Committee to launch an investigation, and we're calling on the Department of Justice to determine if these lies or other falsehoods constitute unlawful activity.

He has disqualified himself from serving in public office and he should resign immediately.
