THANK YOU FOR HELPING THE ANIMALS IN 2022!
Dear John,
With the holiday season upon us, I want to take this time to thank you! We know that supporters like you make it possible for us to continue our vital work to end animal suffering.
For more than 40 years, we have been fighting on behalf of animals. Here are some of LCA’s 2022 campaigns that would not have been possible without your support:
LCA SAVING MOUNTAIN GORILLAS - VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE CONGO - LCA continues to be the major supporter of Virunga National Park’s AirWing unit since 2016. During 2022, LCA began sponsoring the AirWing’s ground-breaking ranger pilot training program. Congolese rangers go through an extensive recruiting process to be selected for the program. The AirWing is the “eye in the sky” and has proven to be the best line of defense for the park. Learn more here.
“SUPER COW” - In September 2022, LCA released the short film “Super Cow,” a condemned cow’s last chance at freedom, told in stop motion animation. Produced by LCA and music by Moby, “Super Cow” follows the story of Daisy and her daring escape from slaughter. Over one million people have viewed or shared “Super Cow." Watch "Super Cow" here.
THE LOS ANGELES CITY RODEO DEVICE BAN - LCA is leading the fight on a Los Angeles City Ordinance that would ban the use of inhumane implements – such as electric prods, flank straps and spurs – which force animals to perform at rodeo events. LCA commissioned a poll of 600 Los Angeles residents, that was released in November 2022, and found 72% of respondents support the Ordinance. The Ban will be voted on in January 2023. ENDING THE S. KOREAN DOG MEAT TRADE - LCA and our S. Korean sister organization, Animal Liberation Wave (ALW), continue to work to end the dog meat trade in S. Korea. In August 2022, a five-month undercover investigation was released that documented facilities associated with S. Korea’s “Mecca of Dog Meat” - the Moran Market. The investigation showed the trafficking of pet dogs into the meat trade by “middle merchants” that travel across S. Korea purchasing dogs from households, churches and factories. These dogs were sold at dog meat auction houses, then secretly electrocuted in nearby slaughterhouses. Learn more here.
Thank you for your ongoing support for the animals - we couldn't do this work without committed people like you. You're helping to change the way the world treats animals.
Wishing you a healthy and happy holiday season!
